Foreign direct investment in Iran
Foreign direct investment, net inflows (%of GDP) in Iran was 0.82% as of 2013.Over the past 41 years, the value for this indicator has fluctuated between USD 4.15 bn in 2011 and USD 361.95 m in 1990.
FDI to Iran focuses heavily on oil exploration and production, and economic sanctions have had negative effects on those inflows, which declined by about one third in 2013, to USD 3 bn. Also, government has rule out new regulations recently which will lead to attraction of more resources in a near future.
