Monthly Report of CBI on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows a 0.7 percent increase in the last month of the Iranian year “Esfand” (ended March 20). According to this report the inflation rate has advanced 11.9 percent over the last 12 months.

The food and beverages index rose up 0.6 percent in Esfand, largely due to the increases in the indices for onion 12.9 percent, eggs 11.3 percent.
The index for tobacco went down 0.2 percent in Esfand, reflecting 0.3 percent decrease in the index for imported cigarettes.
The clothing and footwear index increased 0.4 percent as a result of the increase in the indices for cleaning and laundering wage 2.7 percent.
During this month, the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels indexÂ went up 0.4 percent which was attributed to the advances of the indices for “rental equivalence of owner occupied houses” and “rent of residential houses” each by 0.4 percent.
The furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance index rose 0.6 percent. The main reason for increase in this group was carpets and other floor coverings by 1.2 percent, and goods and services for routine household maintenance 0.8 percent.
The index for health increased 0.8 percent, mostly as a result of the increases in the indices for medical, paramedical and dental services by 0.8 percent.
The transport index went up 0.7 percent, largely due to the increases in the indices for passenger transport by road by 2.0 percent, personal transport vehicles 0.5 percent, and maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment 0.9 percent.
The index for communication decreased 0.4 percent, mostly as a result of the decrease in the index for telephone equipment 4.0 percent.
The recreation and culture index increased 4.1 percent, largely due to the increases in the indices for package holidays by 17.0 percent.
The education index advanced 0.4 percent over this month, mostly as a result of the increase in the index for private schools and supplementary courses tuition fees by 0.9 percent.
The index for restaurants and hotels rose 0.7 percent, mainly due to the advances in the indices for accommodation services 2.1 percent.
The miscellaneous goods and services index increased 1.0 percent in this month.Â Increases in the indices for personal care by 0.8 percent, and goldsmith wage 3.0 percent were the major reasons for this rise.
